Through a partnership with Siemens and S & A Operations, we were able to successfully fabricate a medical trailer that holds a Siemens 128 Slice SOMATOM Definition AS Scanner.
Only three of these types of trailers exist in the world, one is in Denmark, one in Sweden and the above is located at Scripps Hospital in Chula Vista, California.
This was an eight month project that included stress tests, modification, fabrication, system de-installation and re-installation of critical components as well as the main systems and sub systems.
A Calumet Coach was selected for the installation of the Siemens 128 Slice CT Scanner. Once the trailer was selected it was gutted to make room for new lead shielding and RF shielding. New duct work was needed as well as a new HVAC system and plumbing. New chillers were also installed to handle the scanner.
Siemens flew an engineer from Germany to install the new 128 Slice CT Scanner. Once installed it was tested, approved and delivered to Scripps Hospital in Chula Vista. After delivery, engineers were on-site to help with the initial break-in period and to ensure all systems were a go. The project and partnership was a complete success from beginning to end.
